Breast Cancer Awareness

One of our special friends and fellow artisan lost a member of her family to Breast Cancer.  She has dedicated a large part of her time to raising money for Breast Cancer Awareness.  You can view many of her items at www.countryhut.com please support her efforts.

Special items created for her drive are also available exclusively on our website.  Half the proceeds from the sale of these items will be added to Diane's donation drive.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMS

As members of the Art Guild of Orange Park, Inc., we participate in community outreach programs on a regular basis. Recently we joined other area artists, musicians, & dancers at the Middleburg Elementary School's Spring Art Festival. We gave hands-on classes of collage, pottery, photography, painting. & decoupage art to over 300 students in a day long demonstration. The students visited different classrooms every 40 minuets to learn each new medium.

Our partner school Wilkinson Elementary (a Title 1 school) is the recipient of donations of art supplies, time & funds from our grant programs.

Clay & Baker Kids Net, Inc., a non-profit agency that includes foster Care, Adoption Case Management, placement & Indepentdent Living receives regular "Craft Boxes" filled with projects & supplies from our guild to supplement the children's care.

For the second year we have participated in "Journey of the Mind" at the Clay County Agricultural Center. This is a hand-on activity involving gifted students from Clay County. Our artists helped the children create individual pieces of "collage" art.

Women's Center of Jacksonville

Sonya, Leneke and Louise donated art work to be sold at the annual silent auction.  We have also attended events at their location and plan to show the works of some of the artists associated with the organization.

Promoting the physical and mental well-being of women is part of our mission and our contribution to helping our community grow stronger.

Clay County Fair

The members of our website are community minded artists and enjoy furthering art appreciation and education through various means.  One of these ways is by heading up the Kid'z Art booth at the annual Clay County Fair.  Leneke' has been appointed superintendent for the Open Painting & Photography exhibit. In 2007 we had over 170 entries & over 2,00 visitors to this beautiful exhibit. This Blue Ribbon awarded fair is located just off Hwy 16 near Green Cove Springs and Penney Farms.Visit the web site for information & maps. www.claycountyfair.org.

Children's art booths are set up both weekends during the fair and are a huge hit.  Last year over 400 children came through the booth and created their own special collage' art using donater mat boards ,markers, ribbon, stickers, cut-out pictures & lots of other interesting bits & pieces !   Lots of volunteers help gather all the supplies needed for this popular art project.  It was a huge hit and we look forward to continuing success.
